For the third year in a row, Paul's brainchild is taking flight at church in the form of a weekend Arts Conference - Pulse. This is a big old spring weekend for the husband, coming conveniently (enter sarcasm here) just a few weeks before the big old Sunday deal that is Easter. Of course I'm not biased, but Pulse is an amazing conference encompassing all of the arts - music, dance, visual arts, drama, writing etc. etc. It's always a wonderful and rejuvenating weekend, and the relief when it's over is just delicious. Not to mention that seeing the whole thing come together makes me ridiculously proud of the husband. If you're around and looking for some inspiration this weekend, come check out the visual artist's showcase and concert on Friday night, or the conference on Saturday. We will be basically living there next weekend, and would love to see your smiling face.
And then, after it's all over, the following weekend...in celebration of the completion of my dance show, the Pulse conference and a certain someone turning another year older in just a few days, we'll be off to Chicago for a long weekend. Ooooh I can taste that Lake Michigan, Windy City air on my breath already. I can't wait! I have been missing the city something terrible the past few months - I have this feeling it has something to do with the freedom I felt living there that I can just see slipping out of my very fingers day by day - and it has been much too long since a visit. I cannot wait to hug old friends, cuddle new babies, laugh a good deal, and for the first time care to venture into the children's section at Ikea (uh oh...). The dreams of it will get us through the next few days. Lovely.
