Tales of a new oven.

We're all about the home improvement projects these days at the homestead. After a short hiatus since the new doors, the latest project is the kitchen. Tomorrow the countertops get delivered, and the sink is ready to be installed along with those pretty new toppers. Last weekend, however, the real excitement came for me when our new oven arrived. Oh, let me tell you, I have waited for this day! Not that I'm little miss homemaker in any way, but I do cook and bake my fair share of vegetarian entrees and sweet treats, and our old oven left something to be desired. The range was basically "boiling" or "off" and the oven had who knows what crusted on that would not clean off from the previous owner (too much info, I know). Well, the new baby arrived on Saturday, and we've already done a fair share of testing it out. Yesterday our brown rice actually simmered - imagine that! So here's a little story in pictures (also in reverse, oops) about our kitchen fun.

My first baking attempt - a beautiful lemon poppy seed bundt, glaze and all (thanks to the sis for the recipe and inspiration).
There she is, isn't she a beauty?!?
Paul works on the clean up involved - he drywall patched the walls around the oven, home improvement rockstar that he is.
The beast. May it rest in peace.

That's the news here. And yes, I am old. I am stoked about a new oven, and there is nothing to do about it but embrace at this point.

The bathroom is next - I am going to paint it orange, yeehaw! Stay tuned for pictures and details.

That's the most beautiful bundt cake I've ever seen (and the oven is pretty spiffy too!) I've been doing a little cooking myself, only because Rick has been busy painting. No danger of me becoming Betty Crocker at this stage of the game. There's a good veggie curry recipe you should try here http://kimturnage.blogspot.com/2009/02/easy-peasy-curry.html

I completely understand the feeling of getting a new oven! We got new appliances this past summer and we LOVE them!!!! It's great to have a glasstop oven....I tend to boil things over myself.

Enjoy!
