Our fabulous neighbors have chickens in their backyard, and when they are out of town we often take care of the chickens for them - and reap the reward of harvesting the delicious eggs! A is very into boiled eggs right now, and it was so fun last weekend to try and help her understand that the eggs she was eating were coming from the backyard...well, almost. The backyard one house over. We practiced with her each time we went to check on the chickens, saying "where do eggs come from?" and she would answer excitedly "chickens!" I just love that she can eat eggs "grown" next door and not from some nasty, hormone filled factory in the middle of nowhere. Happiness! To eggs!
