Part of Advent Conspiracy (which I've mentioned on my blog several times) is helping to bring attention to the unbelievable amount of money that people spend during the holiday season, and then helping them find ways to spend less and give gifts that are both more creative and meaningful. Check out this sermon on spending less from a few weeks ago for more details on this area (some that are guaranteed to make you sick to your stomach!). The idea, thus, behind the green party, is providing a venue for people to share their creative and lovingly made homemade items. So every person brings some items they've made, and a little boutique ensues where you trade goods with other attendees - walking away with handmade and amazing creations! To inspire you, some pics from previous green parties:
Kortney's fabric covered journal (2008)
my wine cork trivet - many of you saw these last year! (2008)
Kortney's hand painted and sewn greeting cards (2009)
Erin's beautiful jewelry and wine charms (2009)
my antique button broaches (2009)
I'm not really that visual artsy of a person, but as my husband says it, I just "like to get my craft on" once in a while. My point being, if I can, you can - everyone can make cool gifts! Start getting your craft on now for next year's party.
