The (not so) Weary Traveler.

Holy shnikes. P and I were out with friends tonight at one of Madison's local hippie hotspots, the Weary Traveler. We wrapped up our chat just in time to see the bar staff hook up a mic to the small television so that we could all plug into Obama's acceptance speech.

For real. Is anyone else as dumbfounded by the brilliance as I am? There really aren't words...between his biting humor, poignancy and tear-jerking moments (equal pay for his daughters someday - hello?!?) I was absolutely beside myself. As if I thought I could even be more of a fan. Ahhhh. For sure his vision and inspiration are the change we are in need of (not the third term of mister Bush, agreed?).

Anyhow, all that to say, it was nothing short of magical to be taking it all in with the crowd of kindred strangers at the Weary Traveler. I'm not even overexaggerating when I describe it as "magical" either, take it from me. The restaurant folks clapped along and cheered loudly whenever possible, even booing GW at the appropriate opportunities. It was a Madison moment, one more reason why this gem of a little city pretty much brings tears to my eyes...that is, when our future president hasn't already been doing so himself.

OBAMA! Yes we can.
