Winter.

You know you live in Wisconsin when:

- you plan your weekend around not leaving the house due to the frozen tundra that awaits you

- even your cuddlduds do jack to keep you warm

- you avoid your unfinished basement at all costs in fear that once you go down you might freeze then and there and never return

- your windshield wiper fluid freezes immediately, and you almost swerve off the road because you can't see out your car window

- the door on your little car is so cold that it won't close - you heard that right folks, the car door is frozen open

- the recycling bin lid is frozen shut

- the temp high for the day is below zero

- you bake all day long because it feels so nice to open up the oven and feel the rush of heat from within

We're in for another week and a half to two of this here in the fine city of Madison. So, pretty much, ick. I love this place, but come on. This crazy weather can bite me.

You need a fireplace so you can stand RIGHT NEXT TO IT like your dad used to do at the Student Center.

We're freezing our heinies off in Ames, too. This sucks bigtime.

You could pretty much say the same thing for North Dakota Mariah! Nate's car door is also frozen open, and the temp this morning w/ wind chill was -27. Niiiiiiiiiiice.

It gets so cold here we have to plug our cars in...do you do that too? I thought it was SO ODD when we first moved here...lol.

Dad used to stand in front of the fireplace at the Center because he was too cheap to turn up the heat! I remember working there over one Christmas break and never taking off my winter coat, begging him to turn it up just a little. These were the same school breaks where I would drive the VW bug which only had heat once it ran long enough to generate from the engine itself...which Dad always swore would kick in eventually. I used to take a heating log with me for my hands during the drive, kinda like how a pioneer used to take hot potatoes for the same purpose. ;-)
