Treasures!

It is so hard to believe that on Saturday we will have a two year old! We are abuzz this week getting ready for the big day and par-tay on Saturday afternoon. P's about ready to install a new (red!) front door, and I'm working on details for a butterfly cake and themed party as well as a fabulous before * after garage sale birthday present project for the big girl. Last year we had fun throwing A a 1st birthday party, but really it was our friends who came and it was as much about celebrating her as celebrating making it through our first year of parenting. This year, A has her own friends and it's so fun to plan a party where she is totally stoked about the idea of "her friends" coming over to our house. I love it!

So anyway, our darling almost two year old is full of light and laughter and oodles of love. And she's darned funny (sometimes not intentionally). The other day she was in the bathroom getting ready for her bath and she discovered my drawer of feminine products. She's obsessed. She keeps wanting more and more and going back to the drawer - this morning she literally threw a full out toddler tantrum when I told her that we were all done getting more for today and shut the bathroom door. When she wanted to hold some while sleeping the other night, P laughed and said "oh, you sure love your treasures, don't you?" So our daughter now thinks that maxi pads are called treasures. She is carrying them around the house, trying to put them in jars and small containers (which is what she loves to do with all of her "treasures..." such as buttons, cotton balls, hair twisters etc.) and is not very happy with me when I let her take them in the car with us but ask her to leave them in the car instead of bringing them along inside wherever we are going. She gets all excited and says in her sweet little girl voice, "More treasures, Mama!" and if I don't respond, "More treasures, peas (please) Mama?" And this morning, at my 30 week doctor's appointment, when she came into the bathroom with me and saw a shelf of feminine products, she screamed in a loud and excited voice, "treasures!" Hilarity. Can't wait to tell her this story someday...

To being two. And making treasures out of anything and everything.
