Boulders

Ahhhh, summer in Madison. It is truly delightful and we have had some sun filled and fun couple of weeks! Here ensues a little summer update, photo style.

One of Wisconsin’s jewels, the nearby American Player’s Theatre. If you live here and haven’t been, go now. If you don’t live here, come visit and we’ll check it out. The perfect backdrop for Shakespearean classics, you can hike up, eat a picnic on the way and then enjoy an evening of theatre. The only down side is that the mosquitoes also dropping in to see the show…and with the recent floods they are a little bit out of control. Itch.

We celebrated Rhythm & Booms (a.k.a. crazy fireworks madness near our house) at the end of June. I flew home from a dance performance and we were able to grill some food (soy “chik” patties are my new obsession) and watch the mega fireworks from our yard, well, practically our yard. Good times.

The next weekend we were off to the family cabin for some good old fashioned 4th of July fun. Here we are tubing – my kind of watersport. Yes.

My new love. Last weekend we camped at Devil’s Lake and I learned how to rock climb! Amazing! Aside from the perfect setting, climbing rocks (haha, no pun intended). Seriously, I felt strong and adept and really really high off of the ground. It is like dancing on a wall…kind of. I’m hooked, and it should help that upper body strength I lack for all of the upside down dancing tricks we do with CP…

So that’s the update, work and play here in Madison. Paul is gearing up to lead a church trip to Romania at the end of July, and in the meantime I’m planning girl’s weekends and wedding events and sister fun to fill the days in his absence. Mmmmm, hoping your summer smells like lake water and sunscreen and soiled garden hands as well. It is a delicious time after winter in this crazy land.

Hey, you're back!

Your theatre company reminds me of Shakespeare on the Green when I was at CJH all those years ago. Good times.

Happy summer!
